Highlights from Bring out the Boos IV

We just wrapped up our fourth annual Bring out the Boos cocktail competition, and man, was it a blast! This year, we brought in a panel of guest judges to choose their favorite as well as helping to choose the first round of finalists that made it onto the website.

In case you didn’t know, Bring out the Boos (booze? Get it?) is an annual event where we invite bartenders throughout Greater Boston to submit unique, Halloween-inspired cocktail recipes that they create just for us. A selection is chosen to compete on the site (www.bringouttheboos.com), where users can vote for their favorites. The top three choices, based on user votes and input from our judges, are selected to compete in our tasting event, where guests sample each of the three finalists and vote for their top pick, alongside our judges who selected the best in show.

This year’s winners were:

Best in Show: Antoine Vaughn (Osteria Posto), Boo Berry Pop
People’s Choice: Patrick (Tiki Rock), The Shipwrecked Geist
Best Presentation: Melissa (A4CADE), The Afterlife

The event was a blast, and featured a silent auction of artwork and other gifts from artists and restaurants throughout Boston, which raised nearly $500 for Zumix, a local youth organization that provides opportunities in music and sound production for kids in East Boston (our home!). DJ Ryan Brown was on-hand to spin spooky jams all night, and the crew at State Park kept everyone well fed while they sipped craven cocktails all evening long.

We’re already excited for next year’s event! We hope to see you there.
