A documentary covering the life and work of the ever-prolific Wayne White is hitting theaters this Fall called Beauty is Embarrassing You may remember White for surreal set design and imaginative characters on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, but have you seen his typographic work? White has most recently created a body of work called Word Paintings that incorporates kitschy typographic structures in idyllic landscape settings.
Of course, typography should be considered a fine art! This series by White integrates the typographic form into the realm of traditional art while also maintaining a keen sense of humor. In anticipation for his recent exhibition in Los Angeles, an app was made in which you can make your very own 3-D typographic masterpieces. Neat! Check out the trailer for the movie below:
